Happy Monday everyone! I’m back in action after a long weekend attending continuing education classes for my law degree. Let’s just say I’m glad Daylight Savings Time was this weekend so I got at least one extra hour of sleep!
I’m exciting to be teaming up with Vera Bradley today to take part in the campaign of “Why It’s Good to Be a Girl.” I totally agree with the campaign’s reasoning that there is a constant notion in our society that reminds women of their disadvantages, for lack of a better word. “Vera Bradley is a company by women for women,” – I think this is SO beautifully said and I want to help spread the message to my lovely readers, followers and fellow bloggers why it’s good to be a girl. You can actually share your reasons right here on my blog OR at THIS link. Join the cause! Here are my top five reasons:
1. You can be whoever you want to be: as women, we have the ability to wear many hats and you can dress the part too. This has to be one of my favorite reasons. There’s the ‘mom’ hat, ‘attorney’ hat, ‘blogger’ hat, ‘weekend, I-don’t-want-to-be-productive’ hat – let’s just say, I don’t think the guys can handle this!
2. Makeup does wonders! Have you ever had the worst day (ever), cried your eyes out, had to go out OR hardly had any sleep the night before because you stayed up late (for various reasons) and had to get up the next morning, look like s**** and covered it all up with concealer? No one would ever know about your day – because you’re just all amazing!
3. More attire flexibility in the business world: guys have to stick to suits and ties; boring! There are so many options for women. Suits one day, dress the next, or skirt paired with flats, heels, boots – you name it. You can essentially wear the same blouse repeatedly and no one would know because you styled it different each time – #goals!
4. If you want a change, it can happen at any moment: I’ve seen this commonly happen with hair! Speaking from personal experience, at one point I wanted a change to my physical appearance because my long, flat hair wasn’t cutting it anymore. I cut off 13 inches (YIKES) and went with a long bob. It was cute the first week but ended up missing my long hair so much. BUT, I know some friends and family members that loved their change – whether it’s a new haircut, hair color, hairstyle with your new straightener or curing wand, glasses, contacts, you name it! We have so many tools that give us these options. I say, put them to work!
5. We have a high tolerance for pain: we’re the baby carriers! HAHA! I read somewhere online that men can’t tolerate the pain of childbirth. Whether that be true or not, it’s definitely no joke. There’s also a huge expectation in our way of life that a woman should bounce back quickly from child birth and look her best ASAP. Who else has experienced this? SO unfair…
There are SO many more reasons that I can go on and on about…we have the sleepovers, we can stay up all night on the phone with our girlfriends and discuss every detail about your day, we have SEPHORA (lol), and most importantly – we can inspire each other just as other women have done in the past. I hope this post has encouraged you to love and value your femininity. I really think Vera Bradley’s campaign is something we should focus on as a society on a daily basis. What are some reasons why you love being a girl?
